Headline: Darfur Rebels Claim Downing of Sudan Plane

  • Justice and Equality Movement leader Khalil Ibrahim claimed that his forces downed a government plane in western Sudan and declared Darfur a no-fly zone
  • Khalil urged humanitarian organizations to seek his movement’s permission before flying over Darfur to avoid being hit, explaining that the government used these organizations’ logos on their planes in the past and attacked rebel positions and civilians
  • Khalil also announced that his forces have the city of Jeneina under siege
