Headline: Israel Releases 51 Darfur Refugees

  • Israel released 51 of the 500 Darfur refugees it held in Kotisivut prison in the desert
  • They were given temporary visas and will be employed in Kibbutz farms in the South
  • Israel will also start expelling the other 1,200 Sudanese, 700 Eritrean and 600 Ivorian refugees who entered Israel illegally for work

Headline: Darfur Rebels Meeting in Juba to Wait for JEM Leaders

  • Darfur rebel groups meeting in Juba – South Sudan capital – delayed their final session till Friday in order to wait for Justice and Equality Movement leaders to arrive
  • JEM leader Dr. Khalil Ibrahim sent three representatives who got delayed reaching their destination in South Sudan
  • Meanwhile, Sudan Liberation Movement leaders Ahmed Abdul Shafi, Abdullah Yahia, and Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim agreed to renounce their titles in order to enable SLM different factions to unite under one umbrella
  • SLM leader Dr. Salah Adam said that none of the factions meeting in Juba received an invitation to Libya peace talks and added that the participating factions would not go to Libya if they did not agree on a common peace talks’ strategy
