  • The conference was one of the recommendations of Arab Summit held in Saudi Arabia earlier this year
  • It will tackle needs of the war-torn region and the speedy return of refugees and internally displaced people to their homes

  • 3 World Vision employees wounded and 3 of its vehicles stolen prompting it to scale down its operation in South Darfur
  • Meanwhile, Sudanese UN envoy Abdul Mahmoud Abdul Halim expects AU – UN hybrid force deployment to be delayed to resolve differences about troop nationality  
  • UN official in the region rejected Egypt’s offer of 3,000 troops and turned down many pledges from other African countries
