Reuters: Opposition nominates south Sudanese for president.  The opposition Popular Congress Party has nominated a southern Sudanese as its presidential candidate for the first multi-party elections in 24 years in April, a move it says will promote national unity.

Sudan Tribune: SLM's Abdel Shafi to visit Doha for talks on Darfur peace process.  Ahmed Abdel Shafi, who leads one of the rebel Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) factions will travel Tuesday to Doha to discuss Darfur peace process with the Qatari officials.  Abdel Shafi declared in the past his rejection to the Doha peace process demanding Khartoum to provide security for Darfur civilians before, he also was involved in Addis Ababa group supported by the US envoy to Sudan in a bid to unify rebel factions.

Tracy McGrady has come a long way from the 'hood called "The Hill" in Auburndale, the place where he grew up and which he knew he had to leave to succeed in life.  But the 30-year-old's reach is longer than his 6-foot-8-inch frame, extending beyond Texas and Florida, even beyond the United States to the Darfur region in the Sudan, Africa, a place where he first traveled in September 2007 on a trip he says changed his life.

Irish Times: Additional 600,000 aid for Sudan.  Funding of 600,000 was today announced for emergency food relief in Sudan.  The funding will be channelled through the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP), which is managing emergency food distribution across many of Sudan's poorest communities.

The top United Nations official in Sudan has called on all the people of the fractured African country to pull together towards a more peaceful 2010, the last full year of the accord which ended more than two decades of one of the continent's bloodiest civil wars.
