Global Day for Darfur

Egypt:

April 13: the Arab Program for Human Rights Activists in collaboration with the preparatory committee of human rights organizations to save Darfur are organizing a solidarity event with the children of Darfur to stop and to levy off their sufferning.  The event is entitled “Stop the attack on childhood in Darfur”.

The activities of the event, in which a group of journalists, writers, artists and civil society organizations are participating, include an art exhibition for Sudanese and Egyptian artists, children’s drawings and picture that reflect the extent of the human suffering of the children of Darfur.  A documentary film about Darfur will be also shown, followed by a round table discussion which will be chaired by both Sudanese and Egyptian children.

The event will take place at Paramisa Hotel – Dokki on Sunday, April 13th from 5:30 – 11:00 pm.  The event will start with the opening of the art exhibition, and a press conference that will last for half an hour where a press release will be distributed in the name of the participating organizations to the journalists to prompt them to express solidarity with the children of Darfur.  The children will thereafter present a letter of objection to the participating artists, acting as “ambassodors of goodwill”. We are confident that your presence will be an added value to the event.
