Torture of Darfur Students and their Trial

During the past few days, the Sudanese security bodies arrested 9 students from Darfur in the province of Northern Dardefan on the pretext of causing trouble.  They were kept in the police premises and during their illegal detention that violates all international conventions and agreements they were subjected to torture at the hands of the security forces.  It is worth mentioning that amongst the 9 arrested individuals is a young boy of 16 years.  The 9 students were assigned a hearing session on the 24th of April before they are trialed in Obeid Criminal Court.

The Arab Program reaffirms its solidarity with all the inhabitants of Darfur through its campaign "Darfur Before it is too late", which began last August.  It also confirms its complete and unlimited solidarity with the nine Darfurian students, whose names are: Daoud Ahmad Al Taher, Mohammad Ali Hamado, Ismail Obeid Abkar, Adam Babakr Nayel, Ahmad Abdeen Hamed, Al Fadel Omar Shamo, Mabrouk Bakheet Ibrahim, Mahmoud Nayel Mohammad and Khaled Ahmad Mansour (16 years).  They were all subjected to torture at the hands of the Sudanese security authorities, which reaffirms the fact that their torture violates clause (7) of the International Convention of Civil and Political Rights, which was cosigned by Sudan and consequently became a legislation that Sudan has to implement.  As well as the fact that the arrest of the ninth student and his torture constitutes a stark violation of the text of clause 37 of the United Nations Agreement pertaining to child's rights.

The Arab Program holds the Sudanese Government responsible regarding the torture that those students were subjected to.  It also requests it of the necessity to open an investigation with those responsible of this procedure that violates all established international values and traditions pertaining to the prohibition of torture.  The Program also requests the publishing of the results of the investigation and punishing those responsible regardless of their position or the role they played in committing this crime.
The Arab Program also beseeches all international, Arab and local organizations to express solidarity with the nine students to drop charges against them and to release them.

تعذيب طلبة دارفور ومحاكمتهم

قامت أجهزة الأمن السودانية في غضون الايام القليلة الماضية بالقبض علي تسعة طلاب دارفوريين من إقليم شمال كردفان بتهمة إثارة الشغب واحتجزتهم في مقارها،وتعرضوا خلال مدة الاحتجاز غير القانوني والمخالف لكافة المواثيق والاتفاقيات الدولية ذات الصلة إلي التعذيب من قبل أجهزة الأمن،علما بأن من بين التسعة المقبوض عليهم طفل عمره 16 سنة،وقد تم إحالة الطلاب التسعة إلي جلسة استماع يوم 24 إبريل الجاري قبل محاكمتهم أما محكمة(عبيد الجنائية).

إن البرنامج العربي إذ يؤكد تضامنه مع كل أبناء دارفور من خلال حملته لانقاذ دارفور قبل فوات الأوان والتي بدأت في أغسطس الماضي،فإنه يؤكد علي تضامنه الكامل واللامحدود مع الطلاب الدارفوريين التسعة الأتي أسماءهم:داود أحمد الطاهر،محمد علي حمادو،إسماعيل عبيد أبكر،أدم بابكر نايل،أحمد عابدين حامد،الفاضل عمر شامو،مبروك بخيت إبراهيم،محمود نايل محمد،خالد أحمد منصور(16 سنة).والذين تعرضوا للتعذيب علي أيدي أجهزة الأمن السودانية،كما يؤكد علي مخالفة تعذيب الطلاب للمادة(7)من العهد الدولي للحقوق المدنية والسياسية والذي صدقت عليه السودان ومن ثم صار تشريعا يجب تطبيقه في السودان،كما أن القبض علي الطالب التاسع وتعرضه للتعذيب يعد مخالفة صارخة لنص المادة 37 من إتفاقية الأمم المتحدة بشأن حقوق الطفل.

إن البرنامج العربي إذ يحمل الحكومة السودانية المسئولية كاملة عن التعذيب الحادث لهؤلاء الطلاب فإنه أيضا يطالبها بضرورة فتح التحقيق مع المسئولين عن هذا الإجراء المنافي للقيم والأعراف الدولية المستقرة بشأن حظر التعذيب وإعلان نتائج هذا التحقيق ومحاسبة القائمون به أيا كانت مواقعهم أو أدوارهم في هذه الجريمة.
كما يناشد البرنامج العربي المؤسسات المعنية وذات الصلة دوليا وعربيا ومحليا بالتضامن مع الطلبة التسعة لاسقاط ما وجه إليهم من تهم،وإطلاق سراحهم.
